  rmtpa history & organization:

  The RMTPA was organized during the summer of 1988 in Fort Collins, Colorado, at a small arena called the Dusty Rose, operated by Hasty Gilbreth.  The arena no longer exists and Hasty has moved away.  BUT, the RMTPA lives on! The RMTPA is a non-profit organization chartered to       promote the sport of Team Penning and Sorting. Members are from Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Utah, Oklahoma, Texas and other neighboring states. The RMTPA produces three or more sanctioned pennings each year.  Several other producers also present many sanctioned, double/triple sanctioned, affiliated, and non-sanctioned pennings, sortings, practices and clinics throughout the year. The RMTPA promotes or produces at least one Charity Team Penning or Sorting event annually to support and benefit a chosen organization.  Previous charity funds recipients have been the Children's Hospital in Denver, the Colorado Horse Council, "Ride for The Kids, Make a Dream Come True", and the Easter Seals.  Watch our Current News & Announcements area and check our Events Schedule for these charitable events.

  RMTPA's penning year begins after the Finals for that year and ends with the Finals of the subsequent year.  The annual Finals Event is usually held in mid-September. All RMTPA-produced shows are USTPA and NTPC Affiliated. Check the Events Schedule for the individual show designations.  Individual producers have the option to request affiliation and certification of their shows during the sanctioning process with RMTPA. The Officers (4) and up to 11 other elected members of the  organization comprise the Board of Directors (the total Board of Directors cannot exceed 15) which govern the activities and meet once a month, usually on the first Wednesday.  A monthly newsletter is mailed to members before the end of each month.  Highlights of each Board meeting pertaining to need-to-know items are posted in the Members Only area of this web site. Annual membership dues are $5/Junior (17 & under), $25/adult individual, $40/family, or $200/individual lifetime. The RMTPA membership year begins after the Finals for that year and ends with the Finals of the subsequent year.
